Plant Research Centre, Jumla
Former District Plant Resources Office, Jumla established in 2056 B.S. is currently renamed as Plant Research Centre, Jumla which is located in the northern corner of the Karnali zone, Jumla is surrounded in east by Dolpa, in west by Kalikot, in north by Mugu and in south by Jajarkot. Khalanga is the headquarter of the zone. Plant Research Centre, Jumla lies in Thinke (2395m) at a walking distance from airport. PRC Jumla conducts varoius Plant Research programme every year. The office succesfully developed the cultivation methodology for Valeriana jatamansii (Sugandhawal) and Delphinium himalayii (Atis). Likewise plant botanical descriptor for these two plants are also available. Recently PRC Jumla also carried out plant survey of Jumla district & published a report. Report on ethnobotanical survey of Jumla also available.
Dhitachaur Botanical Garden, Jumla
Dhitachaur Botanical Garden (2498m) lies in the Depalgaun V.D.C. with an area of 4 hectares. It has germplasm plot of 48 species, two nurseries, three demonstration plot (Valeriana jatamansii, Neoipcrorhiza scrophularifolia, Delphinium himalayii ), four gardens (Rose garden, fern garden, herbal tea garden, Rhododendron garden) rest house, and an inter cropping field of Apple and Delphinium himalayii.
The main objectives of the Garden are:
- To provide aesthetic and education value about plants, gardening, horticulture and ecology to visitors.
- To design landscape garden enhancing topography to create beautiful and attractive sites.Opening Hours10 AM to 4 PM Kartik 16 to Magh 15
